Karácsonyi || Budapest, HUNGARY

Little things that caught my eye in my first European Christmas Market. :)

***
Karacsonyi
The streets crowded with people from all walks of life, clinging to each other for warmth.
Karacsonyi
Felt hats that reminded me of adorably plump old ladies.
 Karacsonyi
Glass wall clocks that showed non-identical times.
Karacsonyi
Karacsonyi
Packs and packs of sweet gingerbread cookies shaped in different christmas characters.
Karacsonyi
Trinkets that resembled the crafts of the Cordillera people back home.
Karacsonyi
Elephants and beer that don't seem to match but worked anyway.
Karacsonyi
Handmade glass ornaments of snowflakes, hearts, stars, and other intricate charms that manifested the diligent craftsmanship of its makers.
Karacsonyi
Old photographs of people, places, and other things that wouldn't probably look as poignant had they not been juxtaposed so orderly.
Karacsonyi
Vintage notebooks and diaries that made me wish I knew how to write well. And legibly.
Karacsonyi
Pyramids of marzipans that gorged my eyes out, calling me to take a bite and bring a bag them home.
Karacsonyi
Souvenirs of the sea that made me wonder where in Europe they came from.
Karacsonyi
This supposedly famous Hungarian football player I knew nothing about.
 Karacsonyi
Rows of irresistible candies and dried fruits.
Karacsonyi
Sparkling Christmas decors that melted my heart. <3
Karacsonyi
Ornaments that reminded me more of Halloween than Christmas.
I guess they're not pumpkins..? ahaha!

 Karacsonyi
Wooden booths that looked like miniature houses for some wise old hermit. :)
Karacsonyi
Shops that sold all kinds of meat delicacies, including the infamous Hungarian sausage.
I adore their choice of lights. Really cool.
Karacsonyi
And of course, the huge advent wreath placed at the middle of all these that reminded me - and maybe all the others around - the reason behind the festivities.

I had the best time roaming around this Christmas night market in Budapest. Everything was just a delight.
And the best part? This cup of hot chocolate rhum that I held in my hands and sipped from time to time while a wandered from booth to booth - literally made the evenings more heart warming, as I savoured every little drop of it, letting its rich flavour spread and linger on my taste buds. <3

It was the best hot chocolate drink I have ever had.

I am still overwhelmed with this new Christmas feeling. The atmosphere is different and I love it.
Too bad I won't get to celebrate the 25th of December here because I will be home by then. I wonder how it would be like.. I bet it's really lovely and wonderful.. and awwww, how I wish I could stay longer.

..But then it won't be bad to spend it at home. Christmas is best celebrated with the people you love most. Not that I don't enjoy the company of my new friends and family here, but the people I want to spend it more with are back in the tropical islands. ;)

Maybe one day I'd be able to spend Christmas here.. We'll never know! ;)
